As seen in The Post-Bulletin:

A classic downtown retailer is unveiling its new, shiny look.

Lasker Jewelers, a mainstay on the Peace Plaza at 101 First St. SW, recently wrapped up a complete floor-to-ceiling remodel, said Lasker Operations Manager Melisa Skustad.

"Everything was gutted all the way to the concrete walls," she said. "Every square inch is now new. We really needed a facelift and a modern look."

The store, which opened as Blickle Jewelers in 1884, underwent an extreme makeover for seven weeks and re-opened on June 2. The Eau Claire-based Lasker purchased Blickle Jewelers in 1973.

The store's last remodel was in 1999, according to Skustad.

"We love being a part of the Rochester community, and we're excited to provide an even better shopping experience in our beautiful new store," Lasker Jewelers Owner Nicole Lasker said in an announcement about the renovation.

On Thursday, Lasker plans to show off its new look with a daylong open house with refreshments from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
