Carlos is sitting down at one table with a hundred colored stones and 12 people.
We'd like you to be one of the 12.
Here's how the evening goes.
Carlos picks up a stone, tells you where it came from and who cut it, and hands it to the person on his left. It goes around the table, unless the gemstone finds its home before it makes it all the way around.
He'll tell you why the ruby costs what it costs, and why the spinel next to it, which fooled the British crown for five centuries, costs less.
He'll show you two tanzanites that were never treated, and a tray of red sapphires out of Sri Lanka that the gem labs haven't even named yet.
